Medium Term Planning is developed on a main focus or theme which shows the objectives in all six development areas. This main theme will usually last between 4 and 6 weeks but depends on the children's interest. There may also be more emphasis on a particular Development Area, so it is important to observe the children and pick up their interests.

Medium Term Plans are created for each room on the system, these plans can then be used to quickly create your Short Term Plans.
Medium Term Plans are assigned with a start date and end date.
The current % percentage complete of each Long Term Plan is displayed in the active plans view.
There are no limits on the number of plans that can be created.
Completed plans can be reused and reassigned with new dates.
Each note in the plan is linked with a Development Area, Focus Area and then Development Matter, this information is automatically used when creating a Short Term plan so you do not have to re-enter the information.
Quickly view, edit, copy and delete all the Medium Term Plans on the system including completed plans.

When creating Medium Term Plans we add a title for the Plan and then add notes within each Development Area, these are brainstorming areas which will be used when you create a Short Term Plan.

For each Development area, ie: CD, CLL etc we select from the drop down list the Focus Area and then Development Matter our note is linked to, then when we use this note for our Short Term Plan this data is automatically pulled in to our plan saving us having to write it again.

Within each Development Area for your Medium Term Plan you would add a selection of notes / items and link them all with the Focus Area and Development Matter, once you have completed your Plan you would save it.

Short Term Plans are created by pulling activities directly from your Medium Term Plan and involve setting out what is to be included on a day to day basis, one week at a time within the broad framework outlined in the Medium Term Planning, this enables much more focus on what specific needs the children have and how these will be met.

Short Term Plans are created by pulling activities directly from your Medium Term Plan.
The Development Area, Focus Area and the Development Matter are automatically added to your Short Term Plan from the Medium Term Plan.
Short Term Plans are created for each room on the system, one week at a time.
Completed plans can be reused and reassigned with new dates.
Quickly view, edit, copy and delete all the Short Term Plans on the system including completed plans.

When we create our Short Term Plan (weekly) we add a title for the Plan and then we select which Medium Term Plan we will use for this Short Term Plan.

Now we must start to add our notes / items for each day of our Short Term Plan.

Naturally we do not want to type out what have already typed in our Medium Term Plan so the system allows you to quickly and simply add the notes / items from the Medium Plan in to our Short Plan.

In the attached screenshots you can see that above every Development Area box for each day of our Plan, we can select a Development Area ie: CD, CLL etc, each of these Development Areas has a number alongside, this number indicates the number of notes that were created for this area within the Medium Term Plan we are using.

When you select a Development Area from the drop down list, instantly above the activity box appears our items that we added to our Medium Term Plan, if we select an item, the note gets automatcially added to that Day of the Short Term Plan, in addition the Development Area is added to the Development Area Box and finally the Development Matter we linked it to in our Medium Plan is added to the Development Area Details box.

This simple process can be carried out for every day of the week and there are no limits on the number of notes that can be added to a day, each time you add a note from the drop down boxes, the Development Area and Development Matter boxes get completed for you.

You can also add the same note to different days.

Focused plans are an evaluation of a specific activity taken from your Short Term Planning, Focused Plans are used to monitor and observe a child’s interactions during this specific activity and from these observations, their future needs and next steps can be planned. Focused plans are also used to evaluate if your activities are stimulating enough for the children or if adjustments should be made to them.

Focused Plans are created per room and group assigned to children within the room.
Focused Plans automatically pull in data from the activity of the Short Plan of the same day, this includes: Focus title,
Development Area, Development Area Details and the Resources.
Future needs / next steps added to the Focused Plan for each child are automatically added to the Child’s ILP notes so that they can be assigned to an individual learning plan for the child.
Focused plans are displayed as incomplete until the focused activity has taken place and notes and observations are added to the plan and it is marked as complete.
Quickly view and manage Focused Plans for each child on the system.
Quickly see the number of incomplete plans for each child on the system.

When creating our Short Term Plans we use the information from our Medium Term Plans to speed up the creation process.

Likewise, once our Short Term Plan has been created we will use this information to speed up the creation process of our Focused Plans.

When we create a Focused Plan, If a short term plan for the same room has already been created for the week that the date of this new plan is being created for, data from that day of the short term plan is automatically added to the areas in the Focused Plan.

For example, if a Focused Plan is being created for 3rd March and a Short Term Plan has already been created for the week 1st March to 7th March, the data from the Short Term Plan for the 3rd March is automatically added to the Focused Plan, these areas are as follows:

Days Activity -> Focus Title

Development Area -> Development Area

Development Area Details -> Development Area Details

Resources -> Resources

The screenshot shows how these areas have been automatically filled in on the Focused Plan.

Once a Focused Plan has been created it will appear within the child's calendar as incomplete, once the activity has been carried out with the child, the carer can return to the plan and complete it, once the plan has been marked as completed, the focused Plan will appear within their calendar as a completed Plan.
