 The Diary section on the system is compatible with the Dragon speech to text software that can be integrated with your Baby's Days system, speak to your system instead of typing into your system to save you even more time!
Key Areas of the Diary section:
- A help manual is available to assist you in adding a Diary to the system.
- A spell checker is included within the notes and observations sections.
- A diary for any day can be created and images uploaded to the day's Diary.
- Parents can login to the Child's Diaries and view the diary and photos and leave comments.
- Use the import diary feature to import a previously created diary for the new diary then edit it before creating.
- Upload an unlimited number photographs to every day's Diary for every child on the system.
- Add an Audio clip to every photograph you upload to the Diary. Click here for more information.
- Edit the diary at any time and add additional information or upload additional photographs.
- Observations you enter in the Diary are automatically added to the child's Progress.
- Add an Observation, link it to a Development Matter then simply click a button to add the day of the diary as the achievement date of the Development Matter.
- Print the Diary which also includes thumbnails of uploaded photos along with their title and description.
Every Photograph that you upload to a Child's Daily Diary can have it's own unique Audio clip recorded onto it, either you or the child whose Diary you are creating can record the audio, when you or the parents view the Diary and see the photographs, they can also listen to the Audio clip that was recorded onto the photograph, more information regarding Audio clips on Photographs, can be found by following this link.
 Print any Diary you have created.
If you need to print a daily diary, this is a very simple process of clicking the print icon when viewing any Diary, the system will open a new page and display a created .pdf document, this document can then be printed, saved to your PC or even emailed to the parent.
Each printed diary page displays all the information within the diary and also includes thumbnail photos of uploaded photographs along with their title and description, to see a sample printed diary page, click on the image below, you will need the free Adobe Reader to view the Diary.

Children Information

Create and View Diary:

This area shows the Children who are currently active on the system, included within this area is the Child's first and last names and the Room they are assigned to, in addition this section also displays the date and time their Diary was last created, a red cross if their Diary has not been completed today and a green cross if it has.
There are 3 links alongside each Child's data, one for creating today's Diary, one for creating a Diary on the date of your choice and one to view the Child's diary for any day it has been completed.

When clicking on the custom date link in the above screenshot, the system allows you to create a diary for any day of the year, this section clearly displays which days a diary has already been created for and allows you to overwrite or edit the Diary, if a Diary has not already been created for the day selected the system will allow you to create a new Diary for the Child.

This section is where you add the information for the Child's Diary, the areas for completion are: Notes, Observations, Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, Afternoon Snack, Dinner, Bottles, Nappies, Sleep and Other information, any of these areas can be removed from the system and additional areas for completion can be added.
A convenient spell checker is included within the notes and observations section.
Diary Helpers for every section are available and these help speed up the Diary creation process, in addition, if your weekly menus have been created, menu information for Breakfast, Morning Snack, Lunch, Afternoon Snack and Dinner is automatically added to every Child's Diary which can be edited if required.
Photographs of the Child can also be added to the Diary and these are displayed within that Child's Diary when it is viewed by you or their Parents,in addition these photographs automatcially appear within the child's Diary gallery in Year and Month order.

Link an Observation to the child's Progress

When you create a child's Diary, you can enter an Observation for that day, this Observation is entered quickly and easily by selecting the Area of Learning, (then the Aspects are shown), you then select the Aspect and then the Development Matters for that Aspect are displayed, each Development Matter displays the recommended Development Age, a simple 3 click process selects the Development Matter you would like to link this Observation to.
Once you have added your Observation, this will be added automatically to the child's Diary within the Observations section for the day and in addition it will be displayed below the selected Development Matter in the child's Progress as an Observation note.
In addition, if you feel this child has achieved this Development Matte, when adding the Observation, you can tick the box to add an achievement date (the date of the diary) for the Development Matter selected.

Upload Photographs and record Audio onto each Photograph

For each daily Diary you create for a child on the system, you can upload an unlimited number of photographs, these photographs will appear within their daily Diary once it has been completed and uploaded, for each photo you can add a title and a description and enter the date the photo was taken.
In addition, you or the child whose Diary you are creating can add an Audio recording of up to 1 minute onto each Photograph, when the parents view the Diary online and see the photographs, they can also playback an Audio recording with the photograph, more information regarding these Audio recordings can be seen by following this link.
Parents that login to the system can view their children's photographs, audio recordings and leave comments for you to respond to.
All the photographs along with their Audio recordings that have ever been uploaded to a child's Diary will appear within their own personal Diary Photo Gallery, within this gallery every photo ever uploaded along with its title and description and Audio recording is displayed in Year and Month order, this acts as an invaluable keepsake to look over the children's Early Years, each photo displays the age they were when the photo was taken and their current age.

Diary Import Feature

This section allows you to view previously created children's Diaries and import all the data to use within a new diary for any Child, this is extremely convenient when Children have carried out similar activities during the day and saves having to type the same information numerous times for different Children.
Once the Diary information has been imported, it can be edited before being saved to the new Child's Diary.

This section allows you to view a selected Diary, the Diary is displayed in a simple easy to navigate format with each section displayed by the click of an image.
Within each section of the Diary, notes can be left by you or a parent, when notes are left, these are displayed in the comments section of the Diary and the other party will be emailed to advise them a note has been left for them,the email will contain the note they left and a direct link to the diary where the comment was left.

If any photographs were uploaded during the diary creation, these will be displayed within the photograph section of the diary, simply click on the image at the top of the page and the system will take you immediately to the photographs that were uploaded for the day's diary for the child.
As there are no limits to the number of photographs that can be uploaded to a days diary, simply use the thumbnail scroll bar to scroll through the images, when you see one you like, click on it to see the bigger picture, and if that's not enough, click again to see the photograph full screen.
In addition, if Audio was recorded for the photographs, this will be displayed and can be listened to by clicking the Play button alongside the photograph.
You can always upload additional photos for the day's diary by either editing the diary or just by adding them at the bottom of the view diary page.
In addition, all the photos that have ever been uploaded in to a child's Diary will appear within their own personal Diary Photo Gallery, within this gallery every photograph ever uploaded along with its title and description is displayed in Year and Month order, this acts as an invaluable keepsake to look over the child's Early Years.
